Cohn Construction and Cason Development Group have teamed up to redevelop the old Klondike Building located at 1813 Main Street in Downtown Columbia. This will be a Historic Renovation, bringing back the mid-century modern style that was once prominent but is now under-represented in the Downtown Columbia skyline. The project will transform the building that has been sitting vacant for many years into a new apartment building in the heart of downtown. The new apartment project will consist of roughly 28 apartment units with 1000 square feet of commercial space on the first floor fronting Main Street. This will be one of the few downtown apartment projects that contains surface parking on the property.
The interior offices of the current building will be demolished and built out into new apartment units with updated plumbing, hvac, flooring, and finishes. Units will be 1 to 3 bedrooms with up to 3 full bathrooms per unit. The building’s exterior façade will be removed and the original façade will be restored to the original white glossy brick and black stone. This project will turn an old, stale office building into a modern Main Street residential living option bringing back the beauty of the mid-century modern exterior design.
